It's Black History Month

I certainly don't think anyone loves Black History Month more than me, however, this year I'm ashamed to say that I'm not planning my typical activities for my students because I'm knee deep in testing! I'm a part-time school counselor/testing coordinator and usually I would be planning a soul food feast for my staff, trivia games for the students, playing Motown in the hallways during passing period but I just haven't gotten my life together apparently...SMH. BUT, today, I plan to share how I can contribute to the ever-growing, ever-amazing stories of Black Excellence.

This year, my brother decided to start a series for the month of February called "Betting On Black". I've been moved everyday to see how he honors our family and friends who have taken on the scary task to own their own business. It's been so incredibly exciting to see how we are leveling up as a community and I'm so proud of my brother for showcasing the hard work of the ones he loves. So today, I'm Betting on Black too and committing to supporting my fellow Black entrepreneurs in my industry. Now, don't get me wrong, my non-melanated counterparts are killing it BUT SO ARE WE, and unfortunately I don't see us as much as I would like, so I make it my business to find us! We're out here. Doing amazing work, producing amazing celebrations, making your dreams come true!
