Who's Behind Eveyday Occasion.

So it all started on February 14, 2014 when I was sent on a scavenger hunt around DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) to meet my prince charming at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden on one knee with a ring box in hand. It was the start to my new life as the future Mrs. Gilbreath and your expert planner. I immediately started figuring out details for my wedding day and the process was so smooth. I loved every minute of it. As some of you may know, I am a serious bargain shopper. My fiancé and I didn’t have a ton of money for this wedding, BUT it had to be a fancy affair. Basically, I had beer money with champagne taste.

I did it though! I planned the perfect day for about $10,000. We had 125 guests and it was a beautiful day with a touch of ratchet to make the universe align. I knew then that I thoroughly enjoyed event planning. As I started to think about this new venture, I realized that I had been planning events forever and I guess I just never really looked at is as something I could do for a living. I helped plan all our Black History programming at work and at church, all the parent workshops we offered at my job, and as my friends started getting hitched, I was there to give them advice on how to save money but make their day still sparkle. It was a gift and I loved it. It truly gave me a high picking out invitations, dresses, finding the perfect photographer. It was all magical.

In 2016, a coworker and I decided we’d try our hand at this for real. I had a friend at church that was getting married the following year and trusted us with her special day. There was born…Everyday Occasion. So we did a few more weddings and parties and the coworker got a promotion and couldn’t really dedicate her time to the business so I took it on solo dolo. Stay tuned for the Tuesday Tip of the Week where I’ll share a hosting or event planning tip that can save your coins, interviews with top-notch planners in the business, and ideas for all your special holidays that will impress your family and friends. I promise you, this is going to be fun and I’m excited to share with you.
